I swear, does this guy ever do any work?

Having spent last national day in Beijing, gazing at the patriotic splendors on display in Tiananmen Square, this year I am making like a shepherd and getting the flock out. It's funny; I used to bail out Singapore every year for their national day. Now Singapore will be my refuge from China's national day. I'll just kind of slosh around the region, always one step ahead of the local crypto-fascist display.

I should still be posting a bit from Singapore. There are one or two things on my mind.

After this, there will be no further breaks until the Spring Festival, and your regular, semi-daily diet of Beijing inanity and complaint should continue more or less uninterruped.

For people who need a daily fix, I recommend you read Martyn's posts in the Peking Duck. Not just because I enjoy them thoroughly, but because Martyn prodded me for leaving him out of my list of suggested bloggers when I went to the US, two weeks ago.
