Imagethief would like to give a big shout to John Biesnecker, who is City Weekend's new China blogosphere columnist. In his inaugural column in the August 31 issue, he broke China blogs into three categories: China political blogs, "wide-eyed foreigners" and "the A-list". I'm flattered that he chose Imagethief to represent an A-list China blog, complete with an extract from my recent post, "The kid" and a nice pull quote. My good friend Richard's Peking Duck represented the political blogs (I paraphrase; John actually used the phrase "like Christiane Amanpour only angrier").

Thanks, John. It's always nice to be recommended in print (especially by a magazine I don't write for), and I'm glad someone out there thinks of Imagethief as part of the China blog A-list. It's come a long way since June '04, when it was just another wide-eyed foreigner blog harping on about the weather, spitting and other gawrsh!-inducing banalities.

Here's hoping today's wide-eyed scribes are tomorrow's A-list.
