Chinese innovation brings us one step closer to green eggs and ham
Yes, it's more fluorescent, green pigs. Details here (AP) and here (Xinhua). It used to be when you saw a green, glowing pig you automatically assumed a nuclear accident nearby. How times have changed. Naturally, this will all yield great benefits for science or agriculture:
"This technology promises to breed excellent transgenic
pigs and even raise special pigs to provide organs for human transplant
operations in the future," [a scientist associated with the project] said.
Now all we need to do is get these guys --or the Taiwanese, who announced glowing green pigs back in early 2006-- together with the Korean team that developed glowing, transgenic chickens (PDF). Then Dr. Seuss' mighty dream will finally be realized.

Excellent transgenic pigs.
