We couldn't find out why this sheep's throat had been cut. Theories ranged from it being injured and thus unsellable to it being the result of an argument. Animals are not generally slaughtered at the livestock market (although presumably they are slaughtered nearby). While much raw mutton is on display, most of it is slaughtered elsewhere in accordance with halal ritual and delivered back to the restaurants and meat sellers at the market.
