Four old men sit on a bench in the piazza of San Casciano dei Bagni, with the countryside to the west behind them. The town is on a hill, and the piazza has a view across the valley to Mt. Amiata, Abbiada San Salvatore and the fortress of Radicofani.

The village of San Casciano dei Bagni, near the farmhouse in which we were staying, illuminated in the rays of the setting sun and beneath a perfect, indigo sky. This sky emerged after nearly three days of rain on our last evening there.
